Nolan Bushnell, the co-founder of Atari once said “Everyone who has taken a shower has had an idea. But it’s the people who get out of the shower, towel off, and do something about it that makes the difference.”
This has never been more relevant in the digital industry than it is today amongst content strategists who are trying to meet tangible objectives. However, Nolan’s comment should be a source of encouragement for the few that will “towel off” before the others follow. We are working in a time that should inspire us to rethink the framework of our industry.
In That Will Never Work, the founder of Netflix Marc Rudolph, backs Nolan up by considering “if nobody knows anything – if it’s truly impossible to know in advance which ideas are the good ones … then any idea could be the one to succeed.” You or your company could be in a position to design that framework.
